Corporate Physical Security Officer

Job Objective: The Physical Security Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering all aspects of the Bank's Security Program to ensure the safety and security for our employees and customers. This position is the liaison between Bank personnel and law enforcement authorities when responding to robberies, security breaches or other crimes; manages security devices and settings at all Bank facilities; identifies, analyzes, and controls existing and potential security issues, safety hazards; and provides security and safety training, support and guidance to all Bank personnel. Conducts investigations into reports of criminal or civil incidents, and maintains case files and acts as a liaison between management and law enforcement. Conducts criminal, civil, and accident investigations of a more complex nature, which includes obtaining all pertinent information, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, documenting progress, and submitting recommendations for further action. Preparing complete and concise investigative reports, and preparing correspondence with customer of assigned cases. Advises the Bank's Senior Management and Bank personnel of emerging security and safety issues, consults and guides the Bank in the establishment of controls to mitigate risks. The Physical Security Officer will develop and lead the Corporate Security Committee, make Security Policy recommendations to the Board of Directors, and ensure security concerns are resolved and risks are reduced. The Physical Security Officer will conduct Day and Night time security audits, interface with the company security vendor(s), communicate effectively and support Retail Operations, and coordinate with the Information Security Officer for company sensitive information situations. The Physical Security Officer will have dotted line responsibility to the Regional Operations Administrators to coordinate Financial Center training, provide training materials, and leadership for the Retail Regional Operations Administrators. The Security Officer will provide security training for them as well as financial center employees. The Physical Security Officer will interface with Fraud, Legal, Compliance, Audit, and provides support and knowledge to resolve situations. The Physical Security Officer will testify in court cases for video evidence and in criminal situations as required. Assists the Facilities Director to ensure department activities run smoothly and efficiently by providing leadership, training and supervision within the department.

Essential Functions: Knowledge of Bank Operating Policies/Procedures/Best Practices. Knowledge of Existing Regulatory Security requirements for banking organizations. Ability to proactively Analyze potential security concerns and recommend effective solutions. Ability to get issues and tasks resolved to meet customers’ needs. Perform on-site physical security audits. Make presentations to Senior Management and the Board of Directors. Attend security training, develop and organize training classes. Develop and lead the Corporate Security Committee. Manage the Access Control System and key Policies and Procedures. Manage the StellarOne DVR, Cameras, and Video Surveillance systems. Monitor the CCTV and Alarms daily. Review Operational Policies and Procedures for security related issues. Assist financial Centers with Cash Overages. Assist in coordinating and approving emergency cash shipments with the Retail Operations Groups. Review the monthly Financial Center Security Reports. Assists with the Facilities Operations Budget and the Company Capital Budget Planning Process. Implements security related capital projects. Develops monthly reports for security related issues. Participates on the Operations Steering Committee. Develop a 12 month “5 Minute” Financial Center Security Training Plan and all required materials. Assist in developing and implementing the Facilities and StellarOne Business Continuity Plan. Must be able to respond to any StellarOne Facility emergency. Maintain the Significant Business Incident Log and Reports. Investigate suspicious individuals or disturbances as requested by Retail Operations or any other StellarOne entity. Develop positive relations with local law enforcement for all locations. Respond to Subpoenas or other legal requests as required.

Performance Management: Documents employee performance throughout the work cycle. Provides timely and appropriate feedback/coaching as necessary. Plans for performance discussions, clarifies performance expectations, conducts performance reviews and recommends appropriate pay adjustments.

Compliance: Performs assigned responsibilities in compliance with all job-relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Maintains current operating knowledge of all job-relevant legal and regulatory requirements through the successful completion of mandatory compliance and regulatory training and attendance at all mandatory regulatory compliance activities.

Education, Skills and Experience: B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or other discipline preferred, but not required; Previous Bank Security, Bank Operations, or Risk Management experience, 1-3 years; Security Certificate or Registration preferred; Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Power Point Software programs or equivalent; Must be able to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with all levels of company personnel; Must have and be able maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license. Must attend yearly Physical Security Training.

Special Requirements: Travel 3 days per week to Financial Center. Should be able to inspect roof areas and possibly climb ladders. Overnight travel may be necessary. ADA Specifications. Driving to locations. Climbing stairs and ladders to roof areas.

Monthly Reports for Review: Over Branch Limit; Teller over & short; False Alarm; Rapid Response false alarm; Emergency contact list; Significant Business Incident Report.
