Financial Reporting Accountant II

Position Summary: This position is responsible to complete the monthly close process, to include general ledger reconcilements and income statement variance analysis; mentor & develop Level I financial reporting accountant(s); interpret financial results; provide department & line-of-business financial support; prepare external regulatory filings; prepare annual franchise tax return; perform research, analyze and implement accounting & regulatory reporting requirements; create and implement process, workpaper & reporting improvements; own assigned segments of annual budget process and analyze results; prepare adhoc reports and analysis; and act as adhoc project lead.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Performs monthly close process, to include reconciliations of general ledger accounts, income statement variance analysis, and preparation of financial report for management and the board of directors. Mentor and develop Level I financial reporting accountant(s). Summarize, interpret financial results, intuitively question and resolve large or unusual variances noted. Provide support to department and line-of-business leadership in interpreting financial results. Prepare external regulatory filings, to include the FRY8 and Bank Call Report an act as relationship manager with Federal Reserve representatives on filing questions or requests. Prepare annual franchise tax return. Reviews fixed assets software, reconciliation processes and projects with Level I financial reporting accountant. Expanded knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Regulatory Reporting requirements. Ability to perform and apply applicable research and analysis of GAAP, banking principles & regulatory reporting requirements and carry out decision-based application to current company financial trends. Implement new or revised GAAP or Regulatory Reporting requirements. Create and implement process, workpaper and reporting improvements that add value and enhance efficiencies. Assume responsibility for assigned segments of the budget, to include partnership with department and center managers to analyze and interpret results. Prepare adhoc reports and analysis as requested for senior leadership. Act as adhoc project lead, with ability to take a hands-on role in coordinating and assisting projects to completion.

Education, Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. CPA certified or candidate.Must have a minimum of 3 years of general accounting experience.
