Assistant Director Deposit Operations
Job Summary: Directs and oversees Deposit Operations, research, returns, and wire transfer operational processes. Provides leadership and supervises the Deposit Operations and research staff.
Essential Functions: Administration- Manages daily Deposit Operations, research activities and wire transfers. Directs and oversees departmental operations including compliance with policies, legal requirements, automated procedures, instrument negotiability and deposit operations. Oversees daily reconciliation of Federal Reserve account funds and correspondent accounts. Buys and sells Fed funds to maintain required account balances. Provides analyses on account activities and financial institution operations based on deposit operations records on an as-needed basis. Reviews and approves general ledger tickets generated in department. Oversees processing of foreign checks, drafts, currency and domestic collection items. Oversees the new account review process for CDs, Demand Deposit and Safe Deposit boxes. Maintains files on fraud and forgery losses. Ensures monthly customer statements are mailed on schedule. Reviews daily account reconciliations and assure timely clearance of exception items. Adheres to all bank policies and regulations applicable to this position.
Operations: Processes overdrafts, insufficient funds, stop payment orders, and customer acknowledgments of deposits by mail and other correspondence as necessary. Maintains accurate records for customers checking and savings accounts. Reviews monthly reconciliations and assures timely clearance of correspondence bank exception items. Performs the duties of the assistant manager as needed. Performs all other duties that may be assigned. Handles all employee daily overdrafts on the exception list. Works with the JHA Parameter menu to make system changes and create new products as needed for the banks deposit accounts. Works on special projects on the banks operating system as needed.
Leadership: Directs, trains and coaches staff. Recommends salary adjustments and other personnel actions as needed.
Customer Service: Assist with the delivery of quality internal and external customer service through verbal or written contact with customers.
Education, Skills and Experience Required/Preferred: Required – Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field and/or equivalent training and experience. Three to five years job-related experience. Good supervisory skills and the ability to guide the work of others. Extensive deposit operations knowledge. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remain flexible to adjust to work demands and meet established deadlines. Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work accurately with detailed information. Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette skills.
