Financial Sales Specialist
Job Summary: Provides support to the Retail Line of Business and in particular a Retail Financial Center by developing and maintaining the retail business of existing and prospective clients. Primary focus will be on follow-up with new and existing clients. Implements retail banking concepts through the cross selling of loans, deposit accounts and other banking services. Supports the Retail Financial Center through document review, loan and deposit maintenance, opening of accounts, inputting of loans to the centralized loan system, problem resolution and sales support. Assists clients with potential referrals to other specialized departments within the bank for additional ancillary services.
Essential Functions:Works in conjunction with our centralized underwriting group to approve loans. Develops a client relationship with various walk-in loan and deposit clients. Makes client calls with a primary focus on follow-up with clients and client retention. Focuses on expanding the number of products and services utilized by each client. Follows up on financial sales associate (teller) referrals Ensures applications, documentation and other required information is obtained from clients and is complete for various transactions such as loan closings, etc. Contacts client as appropriate for missing information. Collects and inputs financial data for each consumer credit request to determine the applicant’s financial status and creditworthiness. This entails being a strong partner with our centralized underwriting areas. Coordinates closing date with centralized closing group and the client to ensure that the proper loan document preparation is complete for execution. Coordinates and follows up on revisions/corrections that need to be made to closing loan documents. Ensures timely review and routing of executed loan documents to appropriate loan booking and funding personnel. Assists in clearing loan exceptions as deemed necessary. Assists in clearing CIP exceptions. Prepares and submits general ledger debits, credits, and cashiers checks within approved time frames deemed necessary. Assists Retail Financial Center Management with business development efforts as deemed necessary.
Client Services Support: Participates in key client interactions such as cross selling of accounts, opening of all deposit accounts including certificates of deposits/IRA’s, updating client account information, and verifying and processing client requests for balance transfers and loan advances on lines of credit. Provides extensive personalized service to depositors and borrowers by establishing rapport, exploring the needs of the client, recommending actions to meet the needs of the client using relevant benefit language, obtaining agreement, handling obstacles, asking for the business and determining next steps and showing appreciation for the clients business. Captures and retains client information on current customer relationship management software. Supports Retail Financial Center Management by suggesting strategies to obtain the best results based on the clients needs, desires and resources. Accurately completes information on applications, systems and forms to ensure service delivery including all CIP information on deposit accounts and loans and submits to the proper department Assists in clearing signature card exceptions. Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills and decision making ability for the successful growth of a Retail Financial Center and follows through with clients on commitments made in order for them to feel valued. Contacts appropriate internal resources or takes personal action to resolve issues and communicate resolution to clients. Many times serves as the “gate keeper” for initial incoming calls. Maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of systems account maintenance and ensures needs of key clients are supported and our company exceeds client’s expectations. Treats current and prospective clients and bank personnel with courtesy and respect while being responsive to their needs. Informs Retail Financial Center Management of issues, other related information and client communications. Assist clients with Safe Deposit admittance as deemed necessary.
Client Contact Management: Assists Retail Financial Center Management with client contact management information as it relates to scheduling and maintaining client contact information through various computer programs and updating of client financial information. Represents the bank with a positive attitude and professional demeanor in community activities and events. Actively supports the bank with referral programs and any business development programs. Makes calls with relationship managers if deemed necessary especially on new business being developed (this is based on size of retail financial center)
Financial Center Support: Composes/drafts written client correspondence as required. Provides support for the team as needed or required. Ensures proficient daily platform work flow. Performs other related duties as assigned, i.e. teller support (based on size of Retail Financial Center).
Professional Development – Continues education on the bank’s products, services and other lines of business utilizing all avenues available within the company including classes and online training, etc. If desired, work towards retail financial center management.Compliance – Performs assigned responsibilities in compliance with all job-relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Maintains current operating knowledge of all job-relevant legal and regulatory requirements through the successful completion of mandatory compliance and regulatory training and attendance at all mandatory regulatory compliance activities. Adheres to completion of all required BVS training courses by the specified due date. Adheres to all privacy act requirements and confidentiality as it pertains to client and bank information, etc. Ensures compliance with all bank policies and regulations applicable to this position, i.e., loan origination and approval process, loan closings, opening new accounts and client service practices and security. Understands and applies the bank’s operating procedures in ongoing decision making activities.
Education, Skills and Experience: Required – Financial Sales Specialist II – Previous job-related retail and client service experience. Must complete in-house training within one year of hire/placement date in position. Demonstrated experience in providing excellent client service skills, listening and communications skills, both verbal and written. Ability to successfully work in a changing environment with multi tasking being essential. Ability to interact comfortably with all types of people. Ability to establish rapport and work effectively in a team environment. Excellent telephone etiquette, organizational, time management and data entry skills. Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive time deadlines per client demands including being flexible with work schedule. PC proficiency with a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to work accurately with detailed information. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to make significant decisions on a daily basis. Ability to lead, coach and direct the work of others as needed in response to departmental growth. Preferred – Previous consumer lending experience
