Financial Sales Associate
Job Summary: Performs basic teller functions such as processing deposits, withdrawals, and payments in accordance with established policies and procedures. Provides courteous and professional service to build client confidence and trust. Serves as an ambassador of the bank by smiling and greeting clients and builds client loyalty by establishing rapport and listening carefully to determine clients’ needs. Promotes consumer products and services by identifying sales referral opportunities and making appropriate referrals. Resolves basic service issues or refers clients to appropriate associates to guarantee client satisfaction and retention.
Essential Functions: Customer Service and Business Development- Provides stellar service to our clients by representing the bank in a courteous and professional manner while providing efficient delivery of service to internal and external clients. Greets clients with a smile, offers assistance, uses their names while processing transactions and shows appreciation for their business by thanking them and offering additional help. Looks for opportunities to exceed client expectations by placing all service efforts on client satisfaction. Creates a positive experience and builds client loyalty by listening, establishing rapport, identifying and meeting their needs. Looks for clues to identify clients’ needs beyond the immediate transaction and successfully refers clients to the appropriate sources to address those needs. Develops additional account relationships by confirming referral opportunities and suggesting other bank services such as investments, mortgage, alternative delivery, insurance, safe deposit boxes, traveler’s checks, etc. and linking product benefits to the client’s needs. Participates in meeting the financial center goals by promoting bank services and products as opportunities arise and by participating in sales campaigns as identified.
Operations- Ensures that the work area is properly stocked with forms, supplies, etc. and maintains a neat work station. Receives checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verifies amounts, examines checks for proper endorsement, and enters deposits into computer records. Cashes checks and processes withdrawals, disburses funds after verification of clients’ signatures and account balances. Understands and executes properly the Remote Capture Financial Center process on a daily basis. Receives mortgage, consumer loan and other payments, and ensures that payments match balances due. Enters payments into computer and generates client receipts. Places a hold on accounts for uncollected funds. Counts, checks and packages coin and currency. Issues traveler’s checks. Assists with night deposit functions and bank-by-mail, if applicable. Performs transactions in a professional manner to build client confidence and trust. Resolves basic service issues or refers to appropriate associate to guarantee client satisfaction and retention. Follows fraud prevention and security procedures. Balances cash drawer at appropriate times and compares totaled amount to computer-generated sheet. Reports any discrepancies to the Financial Sales Associate Team Leader. Performs more complex transactions (with assistance as necessary) such as: coupon collection; issuing official checks; large commercial deposits; close-out transactions; and cash advances. Complies with all bank policies and procedures applicable to this position. Participates in sales campaigns as identified. Performs other duties that may be assigned.
Compliance- Performs assigned responsibilities in compliance with all job-relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Maintains current operating knowledge of all job-relevant legal and regulatory requirements through the successful completion of mandatory compliance and regulatory training and attendance at all mandatory regulatory compliance activities.
Education, Skills and Experience Required: Required – High School diploma or equivalent; Excellent interpersonal, communications and customer service skills; Good math skills and the ability to process transactions with speed and accuracy with careful attention to detail; Ability to work effectively as a team member; PC proficiency with a working knowledge of using a mouse and a keyboard; Sales aptitude; Ability to work with a minimum of supervision; Ability to work flexible hours as needed. Preferred – Previous job related training and/or experience.
